Outback Writers' Centre
The Outback Writers' Centre provides writers in the Orana region with opportunities to develop their knowledge, understanding and practice in all aspects of writing.
Our aim is to build a vibrant writing and publishing culture in the Western area of New South Wales.
2026 Series of Writing Workshops Continues.

The Outback Writers' Centre are continuing to proudly present creative writing FREE WORKSHOPS on the first Saturday of the month, at 11am at our Orana Hub Writers' Meetings for 2026.
The next workshop will be presented by:
Nisaba Merrieweather, a published author and poet, and a valued member of the Outback Writers' Centre Dubbo.
Topic: How to Critique Writing.
We invite all level of writers to join us in the music room at the Western Plains Cultural Centre at 11am for the free workshops, or you can join us for our entire Orana Hub Writers' Meeting by arriving at 10am with 8 or more copies of a short piece (approx 300 words) and/or a long piece (under 1500 words,) of writing you would like to read to the group for gentle critique.

How to Critique Writing
DATE: Saturday 4th July, 2026
TIME: Arrive 11am for the workshop only, or 10am to join us in our Orana Hub Writers' Meeting.
LOCATION: Music Room of the Western Plains Cultural Centre, 76 Wingewarra St, Dubbo NSW

Bring along your work and have it critqued.

WORKSHOP 6: "Sensory Writing, where we use the power of the five senses to create vivid scenes." by Sue Nolan - Completed 6th June.
